Woods Maintenance

One of the most time consuming jobs is clearing the self sets and bushes that appear particularly from the fringes of the pathways and play areas. Using only hand tools we thin out selected areas to encourage grassland and native flowers to grow and to allow us to mow these areas. The wood is cut up and left in piles to act as habitat for insects. We also try to minimise invasive and noxious weeds like ragwort which prevent the grassland from being cropped for hay. We always need more volunteers so Contact Us if you can help.
