New Footpath Access from Shireoaks Road adjacent Robin Hood Railway Bridge

Over recent years people have been accessing Woodlands across the field and up an unsuitable steep bank by way of an informal path. Our 2014 project is the construction of a formal footpath access, across the soon to be planted 'Coronation wild flower meadow'. This new access in the south west corner of Woodlands will be off of Shireoaks Road and opposite Doefield Dun lock on the Chesterfield Canal. This will provide access to Woodlands for pedestrians form the southern part of Worksop and Rhodesia from the canal towpath. Also it will link Woodlands across the canal at Doefield Dun lock with the public footpaths on the southern side of the canal to Steetley, Whitwell and beyond. Where the footpath crosses the meadow there will be wild flowers on the northern side and a wetlands wildlife pond will be formed on the southern side. Work on the new access path is to commence by the end of October 2014.
