Helping Birds and Bats

Birds and bats suffer from a shortage of suitable nesting and roosting places as well as food. So the Friends using funding supplied by Eaton Production International purchased the materials and built the boxes. During the winter of 2013/14 the group made 30 bird boxes for a variety of birds which were then installed around Woodlands Country Park in time for the 2014 nesting season. We are please to report than many of them were used in the first year. Surprisingly two them left on a wall whilst awaiting fitting became homes to great tits. This winter a further batch of both bird and bat boxes will be made in time for the 2015 season. We also plan to build some feeding stations next year so if you want to help use the Contact Us page to volunteer.
